Highlands of Alanya

Alanya is on the Mediterranean coast, but it has its back to the Western Taurus Mountains. The Taurus Mountains are an integral part of life in Alanya. It is a thousand-year-old nomadic Turkmen culture to go to the plateau in the summer and spend the summer on the plateau. Until the last century, the villages were emptied with the spring and the plateaus were reached. On the plains of the Taurus Mountains, whose height exceeds 1000 meters, tents made of goat hair were set up, while the herds were grazed, cheese and oil were produced, and carpets and rugs were woven. Plateau culture continues today to spend a cool weekend in luxury residences that have replaced tents. DIM RIVER The Dim Stream, which comes from the Taurus Mountains and flows into the Mediterranean from the east of Alanya, has picnic areas on its shores, 15 kilometers away from the shore. In the country restaurants under the great plane trees, the tables are set in the tea during the summer months. Guests sit in the water with their bare feet. In addition, authentic floor tables with cushions are set on the slopes near the waterfront and on wooden terraces by the water. In some restaurants, the tables are on rafts. The forest-covered valley is cool even on summer days. The preferred food in this region is trout. Trouts are kept in ponds in restaurant gardens. It is cooked as a casserole in a pan, on the grill or in the oven. There are suitable routes for mountain biking and trekking in the area.
